We thought you'd never ask! There comes a time in every man's life when a box of chocolates won't do the trick and you need take the whole gift-buying thing to the next level. In other words, you have decided to buy a woman in your life a nice bit of lingerie but you don't know your bras from your briefs. Well, help is at hand!

We have put together a list of hints, tips and advice which we hope will help you make the right purchase. Don’t worry too much though, because most purchases can be returned, exchanged or refunded. However, there's really only one piece of advice you really need: whatever you do, don't buy her anything in beige!

Take a look inside her wardrobe or just think about the clothes she wears and you should be able to spot her favourite colour. Black is usually a good option, while red and pink also look great on tanned skin.

Don't even try to guess her bra size! If you want to keep your gift a secret, you'll have to sneak a peek at the label of her favourite bra and brief. The bra size will have a number and a letter, for example, 34D or 14DD. Briefs will either be S, M, L, XL, or numbers –10, 12 etc. If the label has faded on all of her bras, and she also complains that her bras are uncomfortable, get her a gift certificate and a flight to Sydney for a fitting!

So now what? Here's the fun part! You can either look through the whole range of bras we have online, or search by style. Look at our Bra Glossary for an explanation of bra styles, but basically, bra styles suit different types of clothing. For example, if she always wears low cut clothes with deep necklines, you'll want a balconette or plunge bra. If she is over 45 or she's breastfed a baby for some time, then unless she is blessed with a firm bosom she will probably wear three-quarter or full-cup bras. Having said that, the best advice really is to choose something pretty, feminine and sexy. Most women don't find practical bras a romantic gift!

Tell Her to Use Wishlist

If a surprise is not the main aim, then she can look at bras herself online, create a wishlist and email the list to you. You can then choose what to get her - just don't make the mistake of buying her the cheapest one on the list!

Buy a Gift Voucher

If you really can't choose a gift for her, let her decide for herself by getting her a gift voucher. Trust me, it will be better than a gift voucher for a book or CD. We have two kinds of vouchers: a Gift Voucher and an Email Gift Voucher. A Gift Voucher is a traditional gift voucher that gets posted to you or straight to the recipient.
